Working on yourself - an exhaustive guide.

I recently posted a reel on my Instagram, which got a bit of clout(1000 views with 70 followers). I got a ton of DMs to make a guide or a collection of habits for those who want to start their Self-Improvement journey.

So I'm gonna be listing a few of these habits below, keep in mind, you can implement them in any order, and you don't have to implement them all. Do what suits you best :)

Also, this is for people who are just getting started on their self-improvement journeys, so these tips might be too basic for some people. This will also help if you've gotten de-railed and need to get back on track.

Before I get into the habits, here's a short note from Atomic Habits by James Clear:

"1% better every day The effects of small habits compound over time. They seem to make little difference on any given day and yet the impact they deliver over the months and years can be enormous. A slight change in your daily habits can guide your life to a very different destination. Making a choice that is 1% better or 1% worse seems insignificant at the moment, but over a lifetime these choices determine the difference between who you are and who you could be. Time magnifies the margin between success and failure. It will multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy. Your habits can compound for or against you."

gif
  • Bathe regularly. Wash your body and your hair often.

  • Trim your nails. Keeping your finger and toenails trimmed and in good shape will prevent problems such as hangnails and infected nail beds. Feet that are clean and dry are less likely to contract athlete’s foot,

  • Brush and floss. Ideally, you should brush your teeth after every meal. At the very least, brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily.

  • Wear Deodorant

  • Change bed sheets every week

  • Get monthly haircuts.

  • Wash clothes after each wear.

Mind

  • Meditate - 5 - 10 minutes daily to clear the mind from thoughts

  • Journal - Twice a day, in the morning and before bed. Think of it like a brain dump, preferably after meditating

  • Wake up early - An hour before your normal rising time is adequate enough to get you more control over your day.

  • Cut out addictions - Don't be a slave to your mind. No "bad habits", even in moderation. Smoking, alcohol, binge-eating, p*rn. All of them have to go.

  • Gratitude - List 5 things you're grateful for in the morning. Will boost serotonin and improve mental health throughout the day.

Goals and Tasks

  • Have a to-do list.

  • Set clear goals and deadlines.

  • Cut down on screen-time during work hours.

  • Do the hardest task first.

The steps listed above should get your life on track and if you stick to them they'll compound and improve your lifestyle on a daily basis.

In the end, the "action-taking" is in your hands.

Hope this blog helped you in some way, share with friends and family too.

Thank you :)
